After Anna by Alex Lake
The Top 10 Sunday Times best selling psychological crime thriller with a twist!
Long story short: Julia’s daughter Anna goes missing, and no-one knows where she has gone. However, a week later, she is returned, and that’s where the real danger starts…
I absolutely loved ’Seven Days’ by Alex Lake so I had high expectations for this! It was nowhere near as good, but still a captivating read.
This was a completely unique take on the whole abduction story: Anna is taken away, and then returned!! I loved the character development; it was absolutely exhilarating. I don’t want to say too much, because it’s so intricately written. However, I will say that I was thoroughly impressed.
Like Seven Days, I had a hard time putting this book down. I really enjoyed reading from the narrative of the abductor – it definitely threw me off the scent as to who it could be…
However, about halfway I did manage to figure it out, and got incredibly frustrated with Julia for not figuring it out earlier! The clues were right in front of her, and she’s meant to be lawyer!
I wish I could say more, but I think it’s best to go in knowing as little as possible. A good and entertaining book that I would recommend.
